A powerful officer of the Inquisition draws strength from past failures to discover hidden truths.

This story serves as an introduction to  Inquisitor Lucius Cimber, a character from a narrative tabletop OPR campaign.

Lucius Cimber in Miniature form.

MOODBOARD:

This story is inspired by the strangeness of black holes, specifically what's called "the holographic principle," where all the information of a three-dimensional system (like a black hole, or the galaxy) can be stored on the surface of its space. This inspires Cimber's mantra, "the truth is inscribed in the horizon". Cimber's scientific knowledge of physics (especially black holes) gives him great control over his psychic powers, and (as hinted in the story) his deadly close encounter with a black hole in his youth "super-charged" his powers. In the story, he is literally bending spacetime, manipulating the "information" of the world in very specific ways, which is clearly draining on him. I wanted to combine the idea of psychic powers with my love of physics, and this story is the result!

Thanks for reading!
